NOTICE OF BOATING ACTIVITY EXCLUSION ZONE
Southern Rural Water as the declared waterway manager for Lake Glenmaggie hereby gives notice under section 208(2) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) that all persons and vessels not registered to take part in the Jettin Vic PWC Race Weekend as detailed in Table 1 below are prohibited from entering and remaining in the following waters.

PUBLIC NOTICE
DECLARATION OF BOATING ACTIVITY EXEMPTION
Southern Rural Water as the declared waterway manager for Lake Glenmaggie, makes the following declaration under section 203(3) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic).
For the purposes of boating activity conducted by the Jettin Vic, persons and vessels involved in the PWC Race Weekend, Lake Glenmaggie are exempt from the following requirements:
State Rules made under the Marine Act 1988
- Clause 2(a) – must not exceed 5 knots within 50 metres of a person in the water
- Clause 2(c) – must not exceed 5 knots within 50 metres of another vessel
- Clause 3(a) – must not exceed 5 knots within 50 metres of the water’s edge
- Clause 19(a) – an observer must be used when towing a person
Marine Safety Regulations 2023
- Regulation 60 – master must not engage in towing unless an observer is on board
- Regulation 61(5) – master requirement to carry listed safety equipment on personal watercraft (PWC) on inland waters (waterproof buoyant torch)
Modification
For the purpose of boating activity conducted by Jettin Vic “Schedule 4, Table C - Lifejackets to be worn on certain recreational vessels on inland waters, Item 2 Personal watercraft”, of the Marine Safety Regulations 2023 (MSRs) is modified to include under Column 3 “Lifejacket requirements for inland waters — new standard”: If not meeting an applicable Australian Standard, a lifejacket that complies with the current Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) Aquabike Rules 2024 rule 506.02, has been authorised by the O.O.D., Race Director or technical commissioner as adequate and safe (UIM Aquabike Rules 2024 rule 506.08), and must be intended for Personal Watercraft Closed Course Racing and Freeride and have a minimum buoyancy of 50N
Subject to the conditions detailed below:
- Masters of rescue and official vessels and personal watercraft (PWC) rescue/support vessels are only exempt from items 1 to 3 when undertaking a rescue operation to retrieve persons in distress, provide for their initial medical or other needs and deliver them to a place of safety on shore, and must adhere to speed and distance rules at all other times.
- Masters of rescue PWCs are only exempt from items 4 & 5 for the duration of the event.
- Persons on rescue and official vessels and rescue/support PWCs must wear a lifejacket at all times when on the water during the event and their vessels must have all prescribed safety equipment.
- Masters of competing PWCs are only exempt from items 2 & 3 during designated warm-up, training and competition, and item 2 applies only when within 50 metres of another competitor in competing PWC as well as item 6 for the duration of the event.
- Persons on competing PWCs must wear a lifejacket at all times when on the water that meets an applicable Australian Standard or the modification above and is maintained or serviced in a way that ensures that it is able to operate at all times in the way that it was designed to operate.
- In the event of any injuries which result in hospitalisation, a fatality or an incident involving a person or vessel not involved in the event, these must be immediately reported to Victorian Police and ST Vic. In the case of all other incidents ST Vic requires incident notification within seven days and a finalised report within 30 days.
- The exemptions and modification apply to the persons and vessels involved in the Jettin Vic PWC Race Weekend on the dates, times and within the exclusion zone waters as detailed in Table 1 below.
- The exemptions and modification apply provided the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the application form and associated documentation are adhered to.
