We’ve recently launched our new work experience program for students aged 15 years and above. Through a newly structured and accessible program, students will gain exposure to the workforce and an insight into the water industry – as well as the many diverse roles Southern Rural Water has to offer.
Sarah Edey, Human Resources Adviser, said the program allows students to indicate their preferred department in line with their career interests. “Applications will be open during March and July, with students able to nominate their preferred work experience dates throughout the year,” she said. “Secondary students will gain exposure to the idea of Southern Rural Water as a potential future employer.”
Sarah said the community and organisation both benefit from work experience programs. “It also further expands awareness to friends and family of job opportunities with us,” Sarah said.
"This also provides employees with an opportunity to gain short-term exposure to mentoring and leadership.
“Managing a work experience student is a great way for employees without direct reports to develop their leadership skills.”
We've partnered with secondary schools and will also be promoting on our website and advertising in the local paper over the coming months.
The work experience program is not limited to school attendees, anyone aged 15 years and above is welcome to apply.
