Australia is lucky to have some of the best agriculture produce in the world and it's all thanks to our amazing farmers.
Did you know each Aussie farmer produces enough food to feed 600 people every year? That's 150 here at home and 450 overseas.
Australia produces far more food than we consume, exporting around 70 percent for others to enjoy across the globe. Our Aussie farmers are also the most independent and self-reliant in the world, with only 3 percent of their income coming from subsidies, compared to 61 percent in Norway and 9 percent in America.
They’re pretty good reasons to be proud of our farmers.
National Agriculture Day is a chance to recognise and thank our hardworking farmers and everyone in the agriculture industry for their efforts in feeding us and supporting our communities.
We work closely with farmers across southern Victoria to ensure they have the reliable, well-managed water they need to grow and thrive. And during our work we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know some incredible people who are putting Victoria on the map for outstanding produce at home and around the world. We’re delighted to share some of their stories with you here.
