The Essential Services Commission has confirmed customer pricing for the coming five years.

Under the new proposal, groundwater and rivers customers and Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District customers will receive up to a CPI increase year-on-year. For the 2023/24 year, this is a 7% CPI increase.

Werribee Irrigation District customers will see an annual price increase of 1.1% plus CPI. For the 2023/24 year, this equates to 8.1% increase on the 2022/23 year.

Macalister Irrigation District customers will have an annual price increase of 1.6% plus CPI, which is an increase of 8.6% for the 2023/24 year.

Southern Rural Water is currently undertaking major irrigation infrastructure upgrades ($62 million in the Macalister Irrigation District and $22 million in Werribee Irrigation District) to secure a thriving agricultural economy in southern Victoria.

These upgrades are being constructed with significant Victorian and Commonwealth government funding (67% government funded in Macalister and 50% in Werribee).

The new prices will apply to our customers from 1 July 2023 and will be reflected in bills that will be issued as usual in October.

Our price submission was informed by extensive consultation with customers during a 12-month consultation period to understand their needs, concerns, aspirations and priorities.
